Roma Costello from Poole came to us, like many of you, as a computer beginner. Before retiring, she had done some secretarial work but did not understand modern day computers. She wanted to learn how to use Google, word processing, more advanced emailing and document scanning. After a lot of hard work, Roma became proficient enough to start working for her son and looking after his business and personal affairs while he was working abroad.
As the software we taught Roma on was donated to our centre 'A View to a Skill' by Microsoft, they were interested to hear how their donation had helped clients progress and Roma's story was ideal.
On 5th June Roma and her husband John got the train to London. They were met by a representative of UK Online Centres who took them along to the Microsoft UK Head Office. Here they were introduced to the Managing Director - who Roma described as 'ever such a nice man'. After lots of chatting and photographs, Roma and John were then given a VIP tour of the Houses of Parliament.
They thanked us for giving them the opportunity for the trip, but it is us who are thankful to them for being such a wonderful showcase for our service!
